Caring for your Braided Horsehair Jewelry

The Braided Horsehair

Horsehair is very durable and will last a very long time with a little care.

Remove hair jewelry before swimming as chemicals can dry and damage the horsehair.

Wash your hair jewelry 1-2 times a year with mild shampoo and conditioner. While wet, either wear the jewelry or tie your bracelet or necklace around a round object (such as a soda can for bracelets) and let it dry.

Wearing horsehair jewelry beside other jewelry or watches could fray the hair.

To prevent damage from moths and insects, store in an airtight container.

A piece of cedar is a good idea.

The Silver Caps and Beads

How to clean the beads and end caps:

Use a pinch of baking soda with a drop of water on a cloth or a q-tip to remove stains or discoloration and to nicely shine your beads and end caps.
